Heidi is about 3-5 years old and is a small-medium terrier mix female. She has the most striking amber eyes!
This little lady is a busy bee, but is super happy to chill on the sofa and is a real cuddle bug. She is a very sweet and soft girl, and is an absolute dream to live with. But, out and about, she is all terrier!
Heidi is comfortable spending some time alone, will settle happily in her crate over night and is clean and quiet in the house. She is not destructive but will need plenty to do to keep her brain busy. Heidi is very tolerant of handling and very biddable with people; an all round delight!
Her favourite spot is as lookout at the window, keeping an eye on all that’s going on outside. She’s a real snuggler too and loves some sofa-time with her humans.
Heidi loves to play, her favourite games being tug and chase, and is a skilled puzzler. She has also become an ace at scent games and these are an important and effective way to keep her buckets of brains happy and healthy.
Sadly, just a few months ago, Heidi, who was on lead, was attacked by an off-leash, out of control dog. Her physical injuries have, thankfully, long since healed, but the impact to her behaviour has been much more damaging and wide-reaching. We have an intensive behaviour program in place and Heidi is making great improvements.
Heidi is doing really well and is largely able to ignore other dogs once she has space to move away from them. She may be understandably vigilant if other dogs are too close, but she is easily redirected and calms quickly.
Heidi might be a lamb at home, but when she is out, it’s all about action and terrier-pursuits. She spends her time terrier-ising any critter that has ever been in the vicinity; tracking and hunting and digging - it’s important that she continue to have outlets for this behaviour in her new home.
She is looking for a home with a secure garden so she can potter, sunbathe, sniff, play and hang-out to her heart’s content. There needs to be a quiet-ish and fun park or similar close to the house where she can be brought for exercise and shenanigans.
Because of her love of critters, she can’t go to a home with small pets or livestock. Heidi has been in foster with other dogs and has got along well, but really, she would prefer her own home and people of just her own. But, we won’t pass on the perfect situation for her if there is a steady dog there and facility to carefully manage introductions and interactions.
Heidi would prefer an adult home, but older kids and not too much comings-and-goings would work for her too. She needs to be in a quiet enough area so she can get out and about without too much activity right in her face and her humans need to have the means to drive her to suitable places for fun and exploration.
Her new people will continue to work with AniEd to guide and support her as she settles into her new life.
Heidi is neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped (972274200047950).
